Updated: Oct 5, 2023

Ziplining, it’s one of those things where you either say, “Oh yeah!” or “Absolutely not.” Me? I’m an “oh yeah!” And when you add in the scenic treetops of the Ozarks, I’ll just race you there!

If you’re planning a family vacation in the Ozarks and want to add a bit of high-flying adventure, we’ve got zipline excursions galore! Plus, so many family-friendly places to stay and enjoy.

Ozark Mountain Ziplines in Eureka Springs

If you haven’t already heard about the mysterious little town of Eureka Springs, AR, then definitely check out our post about it. You’ll find a host of family fun and some deep history there. If you want some excitement, though, Ozark Mountain Ziplines has you covered.

The ziplining experience offered here will take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete (depending on group size and physical ability). Zip along eight different routes with heights reaching 300’ above ground. Gem mining and E-Bike trails are also on site (you know how geeked we get about mountain biking in this area). Guests must be older than three and younger than 103, and those under 16 need an accompanying adult.

You can experience the complete course for $89 or get half the experience for $65. If you have a large family or you're going with a group of friends, they do offer an incentive. Groups of 10 or more get a discounted price of 10% off. Reserve your spot with the online booking feature on their website.

The Blue Zip Line & Farm in Mena

The Blue Zip Line & Farm is the most family-friendly, welcoming, and inclusive experience you’ll find during your Ozark family vacation. “The Blue” represents this family’s champion campaign to bring autism awareness and fun for all.

Located in Mena, AR, among the Ouachita National Forest treetops, this place offers so much more than a zip line tour. See the family’s cattle farm, get involved in kid-friendly workshops, or book a camping vacation here. They even have on-site amphitheaters for musical performances.

The zip line tour offers two different options to match your skill level. They have a total of 5 zip adventures, which those over the age of 5 can enjoy in full. There is also a smaller zipline for kids under the age of 5. Expect the experience to take about 2 hours to complete under the guidance of a certified professional.

The zipline tours run Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. They are closed seasonally, though. Adults can enjoy the experience for $53, children between 5-17 are $43, and little ones under five can zip on the small line for $24.

Branson Zipline @ Wolfe Mountain

Okay, Branson is known as the Hollywood of the Ozarks. So of course, it offers multiple zipline adventures, too. And, as Branson does, it goes over the top with other attractions while you’re there. The zipline at Wolfe Mountain includes over a mile of soaring through the sky. They offer three tours, which go as follows:

  • Ozark Explorer: A mixture of zip line courses and obstacles, including a suspension bridge and crosswalk, the Ozark Explorer provides a load of fun.

  • Blue Streak: Boasting to be their fastest, adrenaline-fueled option, this package offers zip lines…and a free fall at the end (I’m an “oh yeah,” but this has me saying, “uh”).

  • Canopy Adventure: Fly straight down Wolfe Mountain. This package is the most exhilarating experience combining the other two options into one.

While you’re there, check out the other fun-filled adventures on site. Regardless of the season, Snoflex park is where you can get your tubing on without the whole frostbite thing. A 400-foot slope that mimics a snow hill will have you barreling toward the time of your life!

Zipline pricing starts at $79 for children and $99 for adults. They offer ticket prices just for the snowflex experience or in combination with the ziplines. You can also add to your tickets for other attractions. Check out their full-pricing menu online.

Parakeet Pete in Branson

If all of this sounds like fun, but you’re still a little hesitant to strap in and sail through the trees, then perhaps you should check out Parakeet Pete’s Waterfront Zipline. You’re not in a harness dangling through the sky, but you’re still sailing.

Parakeet Pete offers a chair ride that you’re buckled into. Instead of zipping over any treetops in the middle of a forest, Parakeet Pete’s offers a ride over Lake Taneycomo. You can get a pass good for one ride only, or you can opt for an all-day expense and enjoy the passage several times. They do offer military discounts, and one ride is $25.

Air Donkey in Davis Oklahoma

Located amid the Arbuckle Mountains, Air Donkey zipline tours offer an impressive attraction. They have the longest zipline covering 1,800 feet of line in Oklahoma. Of course, that’s just one of their draws. The whole course is over a mile long and takes two hours to complete.

You’ll be guided by two certified professionals the whole time while you take in the sites provided by the mountain backdrop. When you get to the Sky Bridge, you might question your life decisions, but no doubt you’ll have fun navigating the swinging, narrow rope, and wood structure.

Air Donkey is closed seasonally and not accepting reservations at this time. However, when they’re open in the warmer months, you can get the experience for $75 a person. If you want a cheaper option, they do offer the tours at $65 if you go on a Wednesday or Thursday.

General Guidelines

Okay, so whether zipline adventures are or are not your cup of tea, there are some generals to be applied. Each attraction will have its own unique set of requirements, but in general, all zipline tours have restrictions.

For the most part, you’ll find that the minimum age to take a zip tour is three years old. I’ve yet to find an attraction with an age cap; however, people wishing to navigate the courses must possess the physical strength to do so.

It’s also almost unanimously recommended that hair be pulled back. Also, when getting dressed, think about the comfort of navigating. Consider athletic clothes and closed-toe shoes. If you’re going in the summer, don’t forget your sunscreen and hydration systems. Zip line courses can be physically demanding, and you don’t want to put additional stress on your body by being sunburned or dehydrated.
